Navarathri Golu Celebration

NAVARATHRI is a festival dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga.  The word “Navarathri” means “nine nights” in Sanskrit, nava meaning nine and rathri meaning nights.  Darkness is associated with night.  What is this darkness? It is the darkness of ignorance.

The purpose of the navarathri celebration is to enable man to get rid of the nine types of darkness which have taken hold of him.  The children celebrated the nine magical days with songs and prayers.

Indian Postal Department Savings Scheme – an Awareness program

In recent years, Indian Postal Department has made rapid strides towards computerization and induction of e-enabled services such as e-post, IM TS, e-payment, iMO, MO Videsh, Speed Post, Express Parcel Post, Business Post, Logistic Post, Media Post and Retail Post, which most of the people in rural areas are unaware of.

The students of Perks conducted an awareness programme at Vellalur Village on the various facilities and schemes available in the post office.  The Ward II Counsellor, V.P. Kannan was present on the occasion.  The Scouts and Guides of Perks performed a skit on the importance of savings.  Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, the marketing executive of DOP elaborated the various schemes available in post office.  The Awareness Programme was well appreciated by the village people.
